5/20. OPEN FORUM
Matthew Moore, Customer Liaison Manager from Anglian Water updated the Council on matters raised at the October meeting. Residents must take responsibility for their own properties and where their water is going, eg have water butts and soakaways for rainwater. Residents are responsible for preventing flooding to their own properties. Foul water system designed to take foul water from properties not ground water and surface water as well. Main issue with areas that are flooding is ground/surface water getting into foul water system and overwhelming it so toilet facilities etc are then backed up. A ‘Riparian Owner’ is someone who has a watercourse within or adjacent to any boundary of their land, they are responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of that watercourse, this applies to several residents in Tetney. A new scheme, Make rain happy, will be launched in the catchment of Tetney and Newton Marsh, where Anglian Water will work in partnership with homeowners to help mitigate flooding issues over the next 5 years. Details to follow in due course. Individual conversations were had between residents and the 3 representatives.
